Drone strikes major gas field in northern Iraq

(MENAFN) According to reports, the Khor Mor gas field, a major energy site in northern Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah province, comes under a drone attack late Wednesday, causing significant disruption to the region’s power supply.

The Kurdish Regional Government’s Ministries of Natural Resources and Electricity state in a joint announcement that the incident occurs at 11:30 pm local time (2030GMT) and leads to a complete stop in gas flow to power generation plants. Videos circulating on social media show large flames erupting from the facility following the strike.

No organization has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. Officials emphasize that Khor Mor is vital for maintaining electricity production and energy stability in the region. Authorities are reportedly investigating the incident and assessing its impact on energy operations.
